When we refer to ceramic hair straighteners, we aren’t talking about the material the whole tool is made from. Usually the handle and outer components are made from composite plastics and resins. This means a much lighter tool. If the whole thing was made of ceramic, it would become quite heavy and difficult to manipulate.
Ceramic hair straighteners simply have a heating plate made of or coated in ceramic materials. This produces an even heating surface. Unlike non-ceramic plates, this type protects the hair as it straightens it. Without ceramic, moisture escapes and dryness creeps in. In the long run, all this does is cause damage to the hair.
In order to lock in moisture and avoid yanking pieces of hair, always choose a hair iron with a ceramic plate. This will protect the hair from unnecessary snagging as the plate moves along strand after strand.
